October MLE News
Posted by Andy Sawatzke on 10/22/2019Greetings MLE Families,
It is warming up again and hopefully it won't snow for a long while. The weather should be perfect for students to get outside and play in the leaves over the long weekend. We are now over 7 weeks into the new school year. Teachers and students have established routines and meaningful learning is taking place throughout the building. See the attachment below to order Maple Lake Spirit Wear. Check out a variety of shirts, sweatshirts and hats. It's great opportunity to get some green for the family! The link will be open until November 10th. In accordance with the Maple Lake Elementary Student/Parent Handbook, student cell phone use is not permitted during the day unless permission is granted for instructional purposes. Apple watches also should not be used during the school day. Devices such as these cause unnecessary distractions and school staff will invest no time in lost or stolen items. If you will be picking your child up when school lets out, please wait in the lobby for them to be dismissed. If there is a change in the plan for after school, please notify the office. Children should not be picked up on their way out to the bus or to Kidville. Following this request will limit confusion and ensure your child's safety. We had our second Irish Pride Celebration of the year on Tuesday, October 8th. We celebrated the students who displayed respect during the month of September. In October, students will focus on kindness. We will have our next Irish Pride Celebration on November 12th, our next Late Start Day, and celebrate our students of kindness. Maple Lake Elementary is looking for Minnesota Math Corps and Reading Corps tutors. These have been highly successful programs at MLE. We have part time and full time openings and tutors serve most of their hours during the school day. Tutors come from many backgrounds and include recent high school and college grads, career changers, stay-at-home parents, and retirees. With extensive training, support from onsite coaches, and evidence-based strategies, Math Corps and Reading Corps tutors are well equipped to change lives. Tutors may earn a living allowance, education award, and federal student loan forbearance, and will have the chance to make a real difference in the life of a child. To learn how you can join the team of Minnesota Math Corps tutors, visit MinnesotaMathCorps.org. All tutors must apply online at MinnesotaMathCorps.org. Questions? Contact abby.fragodt@Recent
